Sylvia Diaz Silbug

Hello there! I’m Sylvia Diaz, a passionate and dedicated graphic designer with nearly a decade of international experience. I have been freelancing for large companies and small businesses in New York City for the last three years. I specialize in print and layout design.

Why “Silbug”? Well, one day my mom decided to combine my name with my love of ladybugs, and an endearing “Syl-Bug” was the result. It’s a name that has followed me throughout my childhood and it was my very first email address! Years later,  I signed up for HOW (an online community for designers), and Silbug became a part of my design life. Now more than ever, Silbug is tied to my career in graphic design, and it inspires me to live up to be the kind of designer my mom–and fellow HOWies–would be proud of.

Born and raised in sunny Southern California, I’ll always be a  California Girl at heart.

At the adventurous age of 18 I decided to move to Italy and immerse myself in a new culture. I learned Italian, got my degree in Graphic Design at Istituto Europeo di Design, and even landed an internship at Sundek Surfwear. I enjoyed seven wonderful years cultivating design and life knowledge from a European view point.

By 2007, I realized I needed more American experience under my belt, so I made the trek home to California! For several years, I continued to develop as a designer and worked to re-establish myself in the United States. It wasn’t long after returning home, that the Big Apple—and all the design opportunities it had to offer—peeked my interest. Looking to strengthen my skills, in 2010 I relocated to New York City.

Now, with my unique blend of solutions and experience I’m here to help you hire me!
